All participants within the classroom setting have responsibilities While the students are expected to appear in class to study and learn the teachers have the responsibility of ensuring that students are taught in a manner that makes the subject relevant and interesting However , for these responsibilities to be realized , teachers have to establish a classroom environment that not only

fosters responsibility among students but also encourages student participation and engagement Students must always be viewed as capable of succeeding in their studies and not as victims of their environments . Glasser viewed schools as places where all can improve their lives . If a child can succeed at school despite his or her socioeconomic background , then he or she is capable of succeeding in life (Porter , 1996 . It is because of this that teachers are called upon to show their students that succeeding in school work would positively influence their quality of life .
