Introduction /Abstract

The issue of education has been a subject of concern to the American government for some years now . Various strategic programs have been drawn up to improve the educational system of the country and consequently , needs for adequate funding is coming up as a result

The present grant anticipated for funding of high school education in either of the two states - New York and Idaho necessitates an assessment of the current trend based on available statistical data on the two states . This aimed at ascertaining which of

the states needs the education fund most . Information about each of the fifty American states was obtained . These includes expenditure per pupil (in Dollars , state population , average teachers ' salary , the Governor 's salary , per capita income , average SAT Verbal and Math scores , percentage of students taking the SAT , percentage of high school graduates and the illiteracy rate

From the initial analysis of these data , I hypothesize that the state of Idaho should receive the funds as it currently has a very low funding status of 3200 per pupil (a position just ahead of the least funded state of Utah , with 2993 per pupil
