Abstract

The Student Assessment Division is responsible for managing and overseeing the

development , administration , scoring and analysis of the Texas assessment program . The

statewide assessment program incorporates the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS , with the inclusion of TAKS (Accommodated , TAKS-Modified (TAKS-M , TAKS-

Alternate (TAKS-Alt , the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS

p and the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS

The (IRA ) is the International Reading Association and the (NAEYC is the National

Association for the Education of Young Children . The primary purpose of the intertwining of

these organizations is to provide guidance to teachers of young children enrolled in schools and

attending early childhood programs such as child care centers preschools , and family care

homes . The statement these organizations have formulated presents a curriculum of principles

plans , and recommendations appropriate for young children . The position statement of these
