Tropical forests are important in the world for environmental balance They represent the most stable ecosystem in the world but at the same time they have been faced with threat of extinction from

the increased human activities which are encroaching into the forest . The predicted loss of tropical forests , which are home to majority of the world 's terrestrial and fresh-water biodiversity , has become a major concern to the whole world . There has been wide-scale clearing of the tropical forests coupled with net land-use flux for carbon which threats many natural cycles in the world . Loss of tropical forests and critical habitats has been chiefly orchestrated by human activities which are eating into the natural ecological set ups (James , 2009 . According to Cramer et al (2004 ) forests are important in balance of world environment . They provide important source of major cycles , including water and carbon cycles , which sustain life on earth . Forests are also important in absorbing carbon dioxide , a green house gas that has become a major concern in the world owing to its role in global warming effects .
