The Pamela Smart case is one of the most famous murder cases in the early 1990s . This involved the killing of Pamela Smart 's husband Gregory Smart , by a then-teenager and Pamela 's lover William Flynn . The posting stated that Flynn currently requesting for a sentence reduction due to a number of reasons including how he had greatly improved during his time inside the prison . Flynn has passed his General Education Development tests and has taken computer college courses while serving his time . He has also shown great behavior inside the

prison in such a way that he is being trusted to work around security systems . The posting has shown how the justice system has changed over the years putting more importance to rehabilitation than to punishment

I disagree with the posting 's author questioning why Flynn was tried as an adult when he was only 16 at the time of the murder . Minors are tried as adults when they commit serious crimes such as murder or rape . There is no question as to what kind of crime Flynn committed . Therefore there should be no question as to why he was tried as an adult at that time
