First Grade Literacy Teaching Strategy With a completed evaluation of the current students in this class the following strategy is submitted for implementation this school year . Evaluated performing above first grade level were 10 of the class , at grade level was 20 and the remaining 70 scoring well below academic grade level . A plan will be outlined to focus on each child 's needs in learning and developing literacy abilities . With an understanding that each group will need to continue to develop their current level . The students currently at

the advanced level - need to be at the advanced level by the end of the academic year . The

Balancing the needs of the curriculum and the needs of the students ' dignity will be paramount in
this plan . No student can be allowed to feel inferior in the class environment . Along the same thought
process - not student should be made to feel an extra burden because they are currently above
academic standards . All students need to feel continually encouraged to perform at their full potential
The 10 performing above continue to improve current
reading skills . There are two different options that can be explored with these students . Class size
