There is a controversial distinction that class signifies the quality of public education in America . will have on the face of our society . It can be argued that a universal curriculum should be equally spread throughout the nation , and that this curriculum should be similar to the elite executive curriculum , which Jean Anyon identifies as the best education our country has to offer . If this curriculum is distributed , will the social classes prove to be even more separate than they are now , or will it lead to a society with a more integrated socioeconomic structure ? Universally implementing Anyon 's curriculum will not divide the social classes , not anymore than they already are , but it does have its potential disadvantages . The main disadvantage is the fact that standardized testing is beginning to change its curriculum to more authentic assessment this means that those who have a more experienced understanding of the way the world works will benefit more than those deprived of the same freedoms Anyon 's article argues in favor of integrated curriculums to equalize the educational system . I feel the only curriculum that can be implemented to attain Anyon 's goal of equalization is project based learning , this essay will show why this is so

It is becoming a popular belief that private and public sector schools and curriculums should be merged together . The job of equalizing the differences between these two forms of education was always dependant on standardized testing . Traditional standardized testing in our country once used to asses one 's calculative ability , is now being replaced starting at the middle school level , with a format that revolves around authentic assessment (Wiggins , 1990 . Authentic assessment is the direct evaluation of student performance through tasks that exercise their intellect . These evaluations tend to exercise their : creativity listening and comprehension skills , experimental research in science speaking and discussion skills and historical inquiry . It largely corresponds with standardized testing , which means it eventually will be used in all schools across the nation to identify the intellectual elite

In compliance with traditional standardized test laws , both public and private schools will be tested , whether they are in the poorest communities or the wealthiest .
