ABSTRACT

The purpose of this is to examine the state of e-government in Saudi Arabia . It also analyzes the implementation and barriers to e-government services in Saudi Arabia . Two surveys were conducted to collect data . A quantitative research technique was employed for collection of data . The research was conducted by involving several leading individuals and intellectuals of Saudi Arabia . The study showed the obstacles which prevent the proper implementation of e-government in Saudi Arabia . The also suggests a comprehensive plan to consider all factors for the implementation of e-government in Saudi Arabia . It recommends seminars , conferences and training programs to raise awareness about e-government implementation

INTRODUCTION

Technology has changed the way we live , communicate and do business Technology tools are used to purchase goods and services using the internet . These advances have changed the way governments will provide services to people and agencies . People have expectations that government services will be equal to those services offered by the private sector . Governments across the world have embraced the digital revolution to spread electronic applications . Electronic government applications are being used to deliver services in the industrialized and developing nations . E-government is defined as the technology applications used by government and public agencies to deliver services to citizens , business and agencies . E-government helps to reduce the costs of governance by making internal operations efficient . It strives to serve citizens better and reduce bureaucratic system (Al-Musehel , 45 2002

E-government improves citizen access to government services and expertise to ensure citizen satisfaction with the governing process Research has found that a majority of chief executives believe that the internet would be important for providing services for their clients Governments worldwide are pouring money for development of e-government applications .
