Imagine that you are running your every day errands in your car and you are suddenly

pulled over by the police . You think to yourself what could you have been pulled over for . You are

not speeding if anything you are driving very slowly . Then it occurs to you , you are being pulled

over by this police officer because of the color of your skin

This scene is an all too common as well as sad fact that has plagued minorities for decades

Whether you are black , Hispanic

, Italian , etc , you are most likely to be faced with this highly evident

scrutiny several times . Logically , the individuals who do not face such scrutiny are typically white

The severity of racial profiling varies from location to location . What can be considered the

ghetto ' is a high risk target area for such discrimination . Driving while Black ' is a term that has been

often coined by black Canadians who also face this terrible truth However , it is not only African

Americans that are pulled over or stopped while driving their vehicles for no reason . Of course

many people believe that they do face the most scrutiny , we cannot forget the other ethnicities that

are corrupted by this madness

The question that we as well as the victims ' of racial profiling are forced to ask ourselves is

Why ? What could possibly be the reason for such constant behavior by policeman nationwide

This is a question that has been put to the test many a times through newss and the public media

itself . Still , with all of the information being broad casted in the media , their has been little or no slack

of racial profiling

Many of the victims of racial profiling as well as individuals who are neither involved or biased

on the subject believe that it has a lot to do with prejudice . Why else would an officer who 's primary

occupation and purpose is to stop violence and crime resort to such explanatory behavior such as this if

they were not racist ? What would provoke an officer whose intent is to do good ' for their city to

not only stop someone while driving for no apparent reason but to also beat and physically abuse them

Of course , police brutality in accordance with racism , although affiliated is an entire story itself

Many people will argue that the reason which minorities are often pulled over for no evident

reason is suspicion for drugs . Well , if this suspicion is so strong that it will cause an enormous and

worldwide knowledge of racial profiling then shouldn 't this accusation also be affiliated with racism

After all , minorities are not the only individuals that do illegal drugs . Just the same , Caucasian

individuals consume and indulge in drugs as well . The truth is , you cannot tell by the color of

someone 's skin whether or not they do or are carrying drugs
