Domestic violence is one of the major problems facing society all over the world . It is a crime that should not happen to anybody but it always does . Despite the efforts that have been initiated at governmental and non governmental levels , domestic violence always finds its way in our homes . Domestic violence , also referred to as domestic abuse , spousal abuse , or intimate partner abuse , can

be defined as a systematic pattern of abuse that is characterized by abusive behaviors directed towards one or both partners for people living in an intimate relationships like in marriage , dating , family , friends , or in cohabitation . In the society domestic violence manifests itself in different forms including physical aggression like hitting , kicking , biting , shoving , throwing objects at and others . It may also be manifested in forms of threats , sexual abuse emotional abuse , domineering , intimidation , passive or covert abuse economic deprivation , and in many other forms . The level of awareness differs from one society to the other with some society already acknowledging domestic abuse as a part of social culture while others have vehemently opposed it . It is a problem that is prevalent in both developed and developing nations , upper class , middle class and lower classes , and prevails across all sectors of the society . It can happen to people from different racial , economic , educational , religious backgrounds and even in different types of sexual relationships...
