What types of volcanic features are discussed ? What caused these volcanic features

The type of volcanic features discussed was the different volcanic landforms namely the round shield volcanoes and stratovolcanoes Basically , these features are caused by different types of volcanic eruptions , whether it 's a quiet eruption or an explosive one

Round shield volcanoes result from a quiet outpouring of basaltic lava They are named as such because of their broad features that make them appear like a shield . They have broadly rounded domes and often shallow

slopes . The lava of these volcanoes typically has low viscosity , small amounts of gas , and can travel great distances . However , they generally do not cause catastrophic explosions

On the other hand , stratovolcanoes result from the explosive eruptions of thick and gummy lava that is able to resist flow . The pressure that is confined in the magma causes an eruption column to shoot upwards . In addition , the fragments of different sizes that fall on the crater along with the sluggish movement of the lava help form the volcano 's shape . In other words , stratovolcanoes are caused by a previous explosion or even another volcano altogether . Their most distinguishing features are their nearly perfect cone and their very steep slope

What do you think is the future of the Hawaiian Islands from the geologic point of view

From a geologic point of view , I believe that the Hawaiian Islands are always at risk for a massive volcanic eruption as they are situated at a hot spot . Since the Earth 's surface is constantly moving and is subject to various changes due to temperature , pressure , and climate among others , one cannot simply predict when and how these volcanic eruptions would take place . Nevertheless , it is always best to constantly observe the volcanic activity...
