Black people and Asian people in Britain tend to have inferior housing , education and health care (Weisser , 2005 Besides discrimination , one study stated that gypsy travelers in England have significantly lower health status than non-gypsy travelers Among other issues , common health problems experienced by the Gypsy travelers are mental health , stroke and heart disease . The study revealed that the poor health status is connected with health experiences , beliefs and attitudes of Gypsy travelers (Parry , 2004 Problems of Different Health Beliefs III .1 General Behavior of Ethnic Minorities Several barriers

of proper health care cause the conditions mentioned above . Significant parts of the barriers are non-supportive or self-destructive behaviors caused by cultural-related issues . Several key behaviors and problems that relates to different health perspectives are
Limited knowledge of illness and negative effects of alcohol and drugs
Low rate of participation to health prevention program
Language barriers , stigmatizing attitudes and mistrust
Lack of knowledge of the health system and how it functions
Passive or negative reaction to health promotion programs

Furthermore , researchers have identified several specific factors that need to be considered in delivering proper health care among ethnic minorities . The factors will be briefly elaborated in the next sub-chapters III .2 Cultural Definition
