Paul 's Importance in the Spread of Christianity

Paul was instrumental in the spread of Christianity by way of his ministry and communication with people of various nations including the Corinthians , Romans and Greeks . This aims to show why he the role he played in this was so important , including his confrontation with Greek philosophy

Without Paul , the Christian mission , which eventually overtook the entire Roman Empire , may never have

happened as it did . As one of the earliest , the best known , and arguably the most effective of early Christian missionaries , Paul established churches in key urban areas of the northern Mediterranean , especially in Asia Minor (modern Turkey Macedonia , and Achaia (modern Greece . These churches then grew and spread , leading to the Christianization of many of the provinces of the Roman Empire . Without Paul of course the New Testament would be radically different from what it is now , and without him , the teachings of the Church would be a lot different to what they are . We can see therefore that Paul 's importance to Christianity is multifaceted

It is important to note that when Paul went to Athens in AD 51 , the city could boast producing great artists , and thinkers Paganism was rife , but yet Paul was going to minister to the people Paul presented the good news of salvation especially to the philosophers who confessed that Paul brought "strange things " to their ears and who wished to know what he meant . The apostle intended to refute both the serious and the popular philosophies of the Greeks , yet he did not ridicule his listeners . Paul 's warning of the imminent judgment of God had as goal the conversion of his audience by reasoned yet urgent appeal . And in to convince his listeners the apostle had to know well their beliefs and how he might lead the Athenians to the realization that their tenets were false and had must change .
