Discrimination and Affirmative Action

br Federal government are required to have an affirmative action program for the recruitment , employment , and advancement of disabled veterans The law requires agencies to develop annual Disabled Veterans Affirmative Action Program (DVAAP ) Plans (Federal Office Of Personnel Management , 2006 . As was the case in earlier examples , this program has undoubtedly discriminated against other groups in its zeal to protect disabled veterans

Affirmative Action holds a broader scope of protection within its provisions , having been designed to protect the rights of minorities or women , regardless of their veteran or non-veteran status

. Technically disabled veterans could make the argument that they be given protection under Affirmative Action as they are part of a minority group , but in any case , the Affirmative Action issue becomes murky as it is considered in greater detail . In DVAAP and AA , the assumption that disabled veterans , women and minorities are somehow inferior and need to be given extensive advantage in to be able to sustain a meaningful role in society bs on the ridiculous .
