Self-sacrificing in sake of duty and struggle against the tyranny are the main themes of Sophocles ' story Antigone . After dictator 's death his fame and image withers but after self-sacrificing individual death 's their glory begins to flourish . Antigone will always be remembered for her self-sacrificing actions . Creon will be forgotten because he did not let Antigone to bury her perished brother Polynices and took a decision to punish Antigone for trying but Antigone 's heritage will always be alive in people 's memory because

she was courageous enough to withstand Creon and she made a choice to sacrifice herself in sake of Polynices 's honor

Creon was the tyrannical ruler . People will not remember his rule for many reasons and one of them is his shabby act when he profaned family values . At that time it was very important to bury perished warriors properly . If a son or father or brother was killed in battle their companions in arms carried them home in to make all the necessary ceremonies . Antigone had the other brother Eteocles who also was killed in battle but he was patriot and they allowed bury him appropriately because he struggled for Thebes . He received a funeral with military honors . However Polynices was mutineer he struggled against Thebes and he was not allowed to be buried . His body was left out by Creon to be assaulted by dogs and raptorial birds . People of Thebes highly estimated family honor and this deed of Creon aroused their anger . That is why Creon will fall into oblivion and memory about his rule will be obliterated
