ABSTRACT
The right brain v . left brain theory provides that dominance of the
right hemisphere of the brain means focusing on emotion , empathy ,
creativity , aesthetics , and interaction . The left brain hemisphere on
the other hand focuses on logic and analysis . Society has
traditionally attached these characteristics on men and women ,
classifying women as ``right-brained , and thereby classifying these
right-brain characteristics as feminine traits , while men are classified
as ``left-brained ' The problem with these gender attributes is that
in this modern Conceptual Age , what is most necessary is emotional
intelligence . There is a need for a balance of both left and right
brain characteristics , particularly in the way we conduct ourselves in
the business environment . A whole-brained approach which embraces both
``masculine ' and ``feminine ' attributes , or characteristics from both
the left and right side of the brain , is necessary to remain competitive
and productive .

Introduction
Popular ideas about gender provide that men and women are not simply
different - they actually come from separate planets . Conventional
wisdom further provides that when it comes to leadership , men want
results and take action , while women favour relationships and a
collaborative decision process (Shambaugh , 2005 .
The different thinking styles between men and women have traditionally
been attributed to the usage of either the right or left side of the
brain (Karen McCullough Co , 2005 Shambaugh , 2005 Center for
Women 's Business Research , 1994 . The basic difference between the
sexes is the way we think , with men tending to discard extraneous data ,
compartmentalizing relevant material , and analyzing information in a
linear path (Shambaugh , 2005 . In this way , men are said to use the
left hemisphere of their brain far more than women do . Women tend to
gather more data than men , and integrate these details faster , and put
them into more complex patterns (Center for Women 's Business Research ,
1994 . As women make decisions , they consider a wider range of
variables and options , and examine a broader spectrum of solutions to a
problem (Karen McCullough Co , 2005 .
Right v . Left Brain
The Right Brain v . Left Brain Theory on the structure and functions of
the mind suggests that two different sides of the brain control two
different modes of thinking . It also suggests that each of us prefers
one mode over the other (Funderstanding , 2001 ) - with men more inclined
towards using their left brain , and women more inclined towards their
right brain .
In general , the left and right hemisphere of the brain process
information in different ways . People tend to process information using
their dominant side (Funderstanding , 2001 . Thus , the learning and
thinking process is enhanced when both side of the brain participate in
a balanced manner . This means...
