Literature review
In the current times , epilepsy has been acknowledged as an independent psychiatric dis . As this condition has both psycho-medical concerns , hence the treatment involved will is not merely limited to medicines and the like [4] . There is much influence that focused and dynamic counseling can do with patients of epilepsy [5] . This research shall endeavor to investigate one such method - Epilepsy patients when experience support groups with fellow patients , tend to have a greater probably of enduring the disease
Basically , as it is understood today , epilepsy is a neurological condition that results in seizures , which needs to be treated with much more than just medicines [6] [7] . It is further elaborated in studies that the biggest problems I the personal awareness of a patient and his /her family about the disease [8] [9] . In all , greater appreciation of the condition , along with an all-encompassing treatment methodology is needed to counter this disease successfully . [10]
Research questions
1 . How do patients of epilepsy differ in their treatment through support group and otherwise
2 . What is the general well-being of patients with epilepsy who undergo support group therapy in comparison to those patients who don 't
3 . How do people in different adult age brackets respond to treatment of epilepsy through support groups
4 . Can other treatment methodologies produce the same result as support groups
Study design
The methodology for research would be `Case control study design . This is an exploratory longitudinal case study that shall attempt to compare upon the pretext of certain variables , how the research group and the control group react . This means that a comparative study shall be conducted between the same variables done for two different entities (groups ) at the same point in time
Feasibility of the study
Every scientific study has its challenges . Especially one that is linked to the behavioral sciences has certain subjective variables to it that are extremely difficult to isolate . There are three primary areas of concern that are to be highlighted as pertains to the feasibility of this study (a ) Subjects
The subjects chosen for this study would be adults , from 18 years up in Scotland . The reason why this is chosen is because children with epilepsy already have their own dynamic development issues that may provide additional , undetected variables which may threaten the validity of the study .
