OK to something that will make me a great supervisor , there are elements I need to change . Out of the many elements of my style , I need to focus initially , on giving strict attention to the need for clockwork budgeting of my time allotted to talking to people who are my subordinates , clients , superiors or visitors at the office . In the past time has been wasted on spending a lot more time talking with subordinates even after bringing my message and getting needed results from them . The need to stay and spend more time than necessary is considered a peeve in my time management and I lose a lot of precious time and energy which could have been devoted to other priority areas
Even clients appear to have been given more time than what they actually need from me given already the results of whatever transactions I have with them . Here , there appears to be a tendency to overmarket or getting to know the client a lot more than necessary . Although , this tendency on the average , enables closer business and personal relationship with the client which , for a lot of times have been very helpful in networking with new clients and strengthening client-company relationships . However , there are other opportunities left out which could have equally provided time and resources to add up to more people benefitting from a limited executive time
Among the reasons why this executive blunder keeps of recurring is due to a weak executive will to comply with a budgeted time for that purpose . Often , I am too shy to inform clients and other people that I need to limit my time with them given the nature of the purpose . Clients especially , would really attempt to stay longer than necessary and my fear is that these clients might be offended if I tell them that I need my time for other priorities
Addressing this time management problem was not easy but I was able to adopt a set of strategies that worked : rearranging the office to accommodate more people clustered in every corner so that I can leave a huddle and go to the next . In due time , I was able to talk to all and people would just leave when they see me in another serious huddle nearby . Often , I would instead introduce one visitor to another and allow them to get acquainted with each other so that I can do my other tasks . In...
