What they seem to miss most are their friends and normal surroundings - the things they have become accustomed to on a daily basis . I know all about being homesick . But in academia , there is a culture all its own , and people are expected to be able to adapt to it and to function in this culture . I also miss my traditional culture . Coming from a culture where everything is pretty routine , it has been hard to adjust to the life that I see on the streets of my new neighborhood . I have been afraid to venture far from my quarters , and with language also being a barrier , I don 't know if I would ever find my way back ! I find it hard to talk to anyone , even people who appear to be from my culture because they don 't act like I would expect them too . I guess they have been in America too long
Coming to America was a dream for me . However , I now miss my home land . I guess you could say that I am home sick . Maybe when I learn the language a little better and become more adjusted to the culture I will feel more at home .
