My Vision on the Role of A Student Nurse

The Role of a Student Nurse is to invest time , effort and finances into the acquisition of cognitive , behavioral and practical skills necessary to becoming a nurse someday . A student nurse is expected to become familiar of the theories and principles that founded Nursing both as a science and an art . He or she is expected to know these facts , and know them by heart in to comprehend the beginnings of the said

br profession and then relate them to the current practice . Not only is the student expected to be academically proficient with almost every illness known to man as debilitating , he or she is also expected to know the means and ways to address the issues faced by the patient suffering from such illness . A student nurse is expected to constantly burn midnight candles in the effort to grasp all the knowledge and skills required for academic excellence and apply these theorems into practice . A student nurse understand that the learning process does not end as soon as he or she becomes an RN , for it is a continuous process of regularly updating oneself with updates and new discoveries related to health and practice .The practical application and understanding of the various skills of the student nurse serves as a preliminary indicator for actual employment (Allen . 1998 . The school setting familiarizes the student into what the actual practice involves . It is therefore essential for the student nurse to experience actual hospital setting in to hone the skills it is likewise necessary that various discipline would also be experienced in to maximize the application and acquisition of the knowledge gained while in the classroom . He or she must understand that nursing is not just a career or a profession , but a lifestyle , one that is aimed at devoting self to the interest of well ness . The student is expected to be competent and well informed in the aspect of child geriatrics , family , maternity care and a lot more , and he is required to implement a holistic kind of approach when handling a particular case He or she is also expected to be systematic is the approach employed , by applying the nursing process taught to him /her . The knowledge gained during the entire course of study in nursing will help the student become a better person , by applying these knowledge in promoting wellness , preventing illness , alleviating illness and rehabilitative care to oneself , thus becoming a role model for others to emulate . A healthy nurse has a healthy outlook in life , a healthy outlook promotes positive disposition to others
