Dental school supplementary essay

A health services especially for the homeless , indigents , and underprivileged - this was the reason that drew me into working as an assistant in Daily Planet Dental Clinic in Richmond , VA . The principle behind the said clinic was similar to my own view of what the dental practice should be like - accessible to all kinds of people . Hence starting from June 2009 until May this year , I devoted 165 (hours or days ) volunteering there . As such , I took dental x-rays of patients and assisted dentists in making treatment plans and in tooth extraction

scaling , and root planning , among others . In the course of my shadowing I learned that compared to other clinics , Daily Planet offered cheaper services . Nonetheless , patients still cannot afford the services so they end up with the least costly procedure even if it was not the recommended one . With this , I came to realize that oral hygiene has been sacrificed by most people . Hence , I , as an aspiring dental practitioner should align this realization with my goals for the future
