In comparison with other countries , Japanese individuals possess the highest life expectancy ratings , especially the females . The advent of medical technology has been increasingly affecting the demographics however , considering that these compared countries also possess medical advancements , the probable etiological causation for the increase is due to integrative associations such as population characteristics , socio-cultural factors , etc

the past half century has been in Japan . Following World War II , Japanese life expectancy soared at rates seldom seen before or since . For two decades or more , mortality rates fell at an annual rate of more than 5 percent a year . Life expectancy of Japanese individuals rose by almost five years a decade . The pace of advance has slacked somewhat in recent years . In fact , even in the 1990s however , mortality rates fell more than 2 a year and life expectancy rose two years .
