The position or pro requires someone younger . Since the candidate interviewed is a woman with over twenty years of experience she might not fall into the same category of `young . The job especially with pros like marketing needs a lot of youthful exuberance to go with

the working . The team in marketing and sales pro , in the middle management has a young team and an older person might not get along well and the efforts might not be synchronized

With an experience of more than twenty years , the enthusiasm for the job or work is not what is expected from the person . And more so as the experience from the same industry , it more or less becomes a routine with so many hours already in it . A mental fatigue sets in and thus the job itself becomes a daily chore rather than a platform to prove something to the world or to look for more challenges

Marketing field is that segment of business where one needs to be on its toes and be learning all along . A marketing professional needs to have his /her finger on the pulse of the community and the surrounding . This is the reason why young people are chosen for this pro as they are an extension of the `present ' and looking toward the future . They have the pulse of the latest trends in the culture and are aware of the changes taking place in the society and the how well are they received

There can be mental blocks with so many years of working in an environment . The young are because they do not have so called `mental blocks ' about a project or pro . Since they are at a stage in their careers , where their vision and perspective can be moulded as per the need of the job and company , they are over older counterparts . The same is the case here

This candidate was associated with the competitor for twenty years which is a big period of time . What happens in such cases is that the company becomes a part of your personality and becomes a second home or an extension of you hence there is a feeling of belongingness associated with it . To work for a company which was considered as a competitor of your own company for a major part of your career is difficult to cope with . An employee works efficiently when he has pride and sense of belongingness to the company for which he is working for , in this particular case this might be difficult to achieve or may take some time
