It has always been the role of educators to create motivation and new insights amidst the conventional practices in today 's education . By allowing creativity and openness to become involved in the process , it opens up student boundaries and allows each one to develop appreciation and skills necessary for growth and development . Doing this , educators can keep up with the increasing challenges of 21st century education and seek to transform students to tackle these trends

The film Dead Poet 's Society is one clear example of an attempt of an educator to

make a difference in a traditional and conventional teaching environment . Reflecting on this principle over today 's students and today 's teachers , it can be argued that so much has changed since the time frame wherein the film was shot . Now , both educators and students have greater luxury and freedom to explore on their potentials and possibilities . The curriculum currently at place seeks to offer dynamic and adaptive actors who can contribute towards increased growth and development . Such actions have opened up parameters of enhancing and cultivating competence and appreciation of the subject

Reflecting on the film , I seek to argue that these issues were not properly addressed . Since the setting primarily revolves during a time of conservatism and preservation of tradition , embracing new changes given by John Keating are seen as deviant and violations to mandated standards of the school .
