DANTE (How Dante`s life is reflected in his works Dante Alighieri had been one of the most influential poets in Florence and thus he is known as The Supreme Poet ' in Italy . Dante is well-known for his literary expertise and through his works one could see how Dante and his contemporaries ' lives were embedded in such a masterful way . His most famous work is The Divine Comedy which is thought of as the best literary work ever written in Italian . Thus it is considered as a work of genius in the world of

literature . Alighieri was born from an important family whose loyalty lies with the pope , particularly that of a political group called the Guelphs . There is another group alliance called the Ghibellines who , in contrast of the Guelphs , supports the Holy Roman Emperor . Dante is the son of Bella degli Abati and Alighiero II . His mother died when he was still seven years of age . His father earns their keep by means of lending some money and renting some properties to other people . The death of Dante 's mother caused his father to remarry . However , his father reached his demise in the early 1280s . Due to this incident Dante found a new father figure in the person of Brunetto Latini , who is both a writer and a politician However , in the La Divina Comedia , he put Latini in the seventh circle of Hell . It should be noted that those who are placed in the seventh circle of hell are accused of violence against nature ' or sodomy
Dante had been well-educated in Classical and Christian literature alike . Dante fell in love at a very young age with Beatrice who in turn was only nine years of age . However , that did nothing as Dante was promised to another girl named Gemma Donati . After a few years passed Beatrice and Dante were fated to meet again . Dante 's passion for writing verses and poetry may be attributed to this meeting since his works were mostly written for Beatrice . One should take note of the fact that the bulk of Dante 's work are attributed to Beatrice wherein of those works were made for his own wife , Gemma . One of Dante 's works which had been produced in 1292 had been made in celebration of his love for Beatrice . The said work goes with the name La Vita Nuova . The spirit of Dante 's love had been embedded within the work by the Medieval 's notion of courtly love tradition ' by which he only admired Beatrice from afar .
