In the novel of Virginia Wolfe entitled , Mrs . Dalloway (1925 , the mystery of Septimus ' death has been the primary controversy for Clarissa . The character of Clarissa Dalloway is the one in charge in the preparation and hosting for a party in the evening . On the other hand the character of Septimus is someone who is suffering from severe mental hallucinations that are very much unimaginable . Septimus has been taken in custody by two doctors and issued a

proposal for Septimus to refrain from his stay in country . This is one of the most highlighted conflicts of the story when the medical representatives try to take Septimus however , he jumps out of the window and takes his own death . During the rally of the party that evening , Clarissa is started and stunned after learning the death of Septimus , which has given her the feeling of epiphany . Hence , as for the study , the aim is to determine the truth or reason for Clarissa 's reaction over Septimus ' death . What truth becomes clear to her , and why is it significant

In this study , the main characters that have been taken into consideration are Clarissa and Septimus Smith . The character of Septimus Smith suffers from delusional paranoia with the thoughts of him being the savior that is destined to kill the Prime Minister . The impacts of war have caused Septimus his illness , and somehow Wolfe uses Septimus 's role in to depict that psychological costs of war . Considering the strong attachment of Septimus with Evans , indicating close bonds had to be together , share with each other , fight with each other , quarrel with each other (130 , his death during the war catapults Septimus into his state of numbness , and from this scenario , the suffering of Septimus originates to his failure of recognizing that the end of his war friendship means much significant than he had assumed at least outside of war events . Lucrezia , the wife of Septimus , initially acknowledges that the condition of Septimus can be resolved by their marriage and her affection towards him however , her expectations have been denied by the continuous oddity and psychological illness of his husband . As for Septimus , the loss of his ties from war in the character of Evans has triggered his breakdown since he considers this . the end of a friendship (130 , which cannot be resolved by any interventions in the conscious reality . On the other hand , Clarissa Dalloway models a character that recognizes the need to apprehend empathy and desire to affect human connections . The feministic character of Clarissa has even considered the need to sacrifice her erotic feeling towards Sally for the same of relationship that is more conventional Unlike Septimus and Evans , Clarissa has considered the attachments present between these two males , which she considered a seemingly homosexual approach that greatly affects Septimus .
