With this definition , the network is made up of the intelligent end point system that are self deterministic , The key of understanding the IP is the realization that IP is a family protocol , providing a wide range of highly segmented functions , it is not a single massive protocol , rather it 's a collection of protocols that runs from application specific functions like web browsing down to the low level networking like IP and TCP

Internet Protocol is maybe the most significant to the overall procedures of the internet in general , since it is responsible for getting information from one server to the other . In affect of IP , this can be thought of as being like a national delivery service that gets package from a sender to a recipient , with the sender being oblivious to the routing and delivery mechanisms used by the recipient . The sender simply gives the package to the recipient , who moves the package until it is sent . In similarity , it is also function of IP to allow for the communicating and sending decisions whenever an IP datagram has to be sent throughout a progression of system in for it to be transport in to its final destination . The delivery system does not care on how the datagram arrives to the address system , instead it prefer the best route that is accessible on that exact moment . If this requires delivery of the datagram by the other intermediary system , then that system also make routing conclusions according to the present condition of the network , sending on the data on until it gets at the address system This Internet Protocol is also used for encapsulating the data into a packet , and then assigned to a unique address of the source and the destination of the packet in the packet header . Because of the concept that was given thru encapsulation , IP can be used over a various network and it makes no difference to the layer of upper protocols . This is why IP is widely used and accepted in the telecommunications industry
