DQ Replications for Backup
Running head : DQ Replications for Backup Name University Course Tutor Date The purpose of the paper is to identify replication types that function or serves the purpose of back up . It also examines the types of replication which are more like RAID Replication is the process of moving or copying data between databases on different or same servers . There are three main types of replication they include snapshot , transactional and merge . Snapshot replication functions like a backup as it helps to distribute data as it appears without

monitoring updates . Snapshot replication can be used without the support of other types . This gives it the property of acting as a backup . Snapshot process creates a copy of all data and objects specified by any given publication . As a back up it provides initial or first hand data and database objects for other replication types such as transactional and merge publications . On the other hand , transactional and merge replication types are more like RAID . Transactional and merge replication begins with snapshot of database objects and data replication . After taking the snapshot , certain modifications are made which are applied to a subscriber . In this aspect the two replication types provides reliable storage . This corresponds to RAID in which information is stored or spread across a number of disks using disk mirroring or striping . The characteristic features differentiating the two categories of data storage include frequent change of data in snapshot replication and partitioning of data in merge replication which enables it to be...
