The Relationship of Morals If there were an argument put forth between the case of the relationship between habit and moral character it would be that moral character is the dominant , motivating factor behind the habits that one undertakes . For example , if an individual has strong moral objections to any activity that harms the body , then it is doubtful that the person would engage in habits of over-eating , smoking , etc Of course , this is not to say that an individual who is of strong moral background does not `fall from grace ' or

feels temptation to take part in habits that may be somewhat in conflict with their beliefs , but overall , the moral character that has been shaped will decide the course of actions the person takes
This notion can be similarly found in the way in which a person 's moral character shapes their political beliefs . If a person sees in a candidate similar moral beliefs and values , then the person may be inclined to vote for that candidate . After all , it would be incredibly difficult for an individual to see value in a politician who does not share the same world view . As such , choosing candidates that share similar moral beliefs and outlooks is expected
Again , this does not mean that a voter will always choose candidates based on morals because there can be other issues at stake as well (Financial concerns over a candidate 's stance on organized labor , for example , can play a significant role in voter selection and trump the moral question under certain circumstances ) However , it would still be a safe assumption to believe that many voters who be turned off to a candidate or political ideology that was greatly at odds with their own personal moral values and judgments...
