DEFINITIONS
DEFINITIONS The range of important ' or very important ' identified by an outside research firm hired by my employer includes such crucial qualities as interpersonal communication skills , learning aptitude desire to grow , collaboration and teamwork , and creative problem solving . These skills will often determine the ultimate success and failure of one 's career . Therefore , over the course of my MBA degree program , I would be glad to develop all of them , with special emphasis on interpersonal skills and creative problem solving In particular , interpersonal skills are of special importance to me

because they include the ability to read and manage the emotions motivations , and behaviors of oneself and others during social interactions or in a social-interactive context (NCREL , n .d Interpersonal and communication skills are closely related with the concept of emotional intelligence which explains why people with high IQs are not always successful in organisational environments . The reason is that managers , in addition to intellectual ability , should have capacity to understand the needs and attitudes of their employees and be able to react to these factors adequately
Creative problem solving is , in my view , the cornerstone of finding effective solutions to complex problems that arise in managerial practice . Ability to think `out of the box , to bring fresh ideas is necessary for success in competitive environments . One way to engage in organisational work is to be an "idea consumer , one out of many people that wander around in a gigantic open-air mall of facts and ideas (Lutus , n .d . A more exciting opportunity is to generate ideas on one 's own , an ability that I consider to be my strength which I am eager to develop over the course of MBA studies
In addition , without learning aptitude desire to grow and collaboration and teamwork , no one can expect to stage spectacular successes in management . Learning aptitude , a quality consistently ranking high on the list of employers ' expectations , includes the desire to improve one 's skills over the course of one 's career . Collaboration and teamwork embraces the ability to work with others , an indispensable feature of a successful professional . Taken together , these qualities make one an effective and able business manager
