Current Business News

Brazil is one of the most dynamic economies in the Latin American region . Although it is still classified as a developing country , the current business atmosphere in the country is expected to boom in the next couple of years due to stabilizing business environment

Currently , Brazil is eyeing to become a world leader in generating fuels coming from procedures naturally extracted from organic materials The biofuel industry of the world market is becoming a fast alternative to conventional sources of energy and the Brazilian economy wants to tap

this potentially rich business sector . Because of Brazil 's position as the world leader in the production of ethanol coming from sugarcane (AFP , 2008 , starting this month , the country 's government is eyeing to tie up with the different markets in the European Union in light of the latter 's objective to reduce dependency on petroleum

Based on the United Nation 's world report on climate change Brazil 's capability of producing biofuel components far exceeds that of the procedures developed by European countries and the US . This is with regards to the establishment of facilities for ethanol production from raw organic materials which are primarily used for biofuel production

The EU plan which prompted Brazil to get involved in commercializing its biofuel production is its goal to include biofuel additives of at least 10 in transport mechanisms by 2020 . The organization intends to implement the directives among its 27 member countries . Primarily , what caught the attention of EU towards Brazil 's capability is its concerns over the effects of climate change and the impractical transactions involving petroleum based products as the primary source of energy for industries and transport

However , even though the European Union has considered taking part in the large scale biofuel partnership with Brazil , the actual trade is still set to be discussed . The main reason is the seemingly unattractive tariff imposition of EU towards Brazil 's ethanol product . Currently , the organization applies 60 of tax requirements for each transaction of ethanol importation coming from Brazil

Apart from Europe , the United States is also considering a tie up partnership with Brazil to effectively mass produce ethanol for biofuel Basically , these two countries produce at least 70 of the world 's ethanol requirement (Plummer , 2006

Previously , Brazil 's ultimate intention of pioneering the biofuel approach did not lie on the prospects of economic growth but on patriotism . The military segment of the government in the 1960 's prompted the national government to decrease its dependency on Middle Eastern petrol products . In addition to that , the 70s saw the instability of world oil prices which started a sense of anxiety over global markets . These events lead Brazil to consider an opportunity of harnessing its natural resources for the production of materials to convert for energy

Today , even if world petrol supply is still manageable , Brazilian business entities have mass produced automotive vehicles which can provide the flexibility of adding biofuel components to conventional petroleum products . More and...
