Polygamy can be defined as the form of marriage which involves more than one spause .Polygamy in America has always been against the law of their culture and custom although some of the people still practice polygamy All this has been as a struggle in the 19th century over the Mormonism Many churches proposed for the legalization of polygamy but the government in this case is seen to have stayed firm in ensuring that polygamy has not been legalized at all . Recently the issue of polygamy has arisen as an issue

of the ferocious marriage debates by most of the people in America . Polygamy in this case involves the case of one man halving more than two wives or one wife with more than one husband Though it is known that polygamy is illegal in all the 50 states , there is still some propelling even up to today that are still practicing polygamy . These people are seen to practice polygamy as a matter of religion since you find that some of the religions still find it to be accepted for one man to have more than one wife . They trace this biblically whereby they try to explain how some of the people in the bible are quoted to possess more than one wife and a good example to explain this is Solomon who had 600 wife 's and he supported all of them This is their main argument to practice polygamy even up to today . Most of the people in America especially in the west have accepted this behavior and is rarely prosecuted . Over so many years of struggle polygamy is now back in America and also in the public consciousness and this is as a result of the legal definition of marriage (Mike , 1999

Despite the fact that it is illegal , there are no serious challenges to the anti-polygamy laws . Culturally marriage is not the main way by which people organize their own lives and people can still live without marriage . It is still surviving in America and many people usually argue that the issue of polygamy should be a matter between the consenting adults . You tend to find that most of the people here have the attitude that the religiously motivated polygamy is an issue which should be left to those people wanting to marry . Whatever they think is right should be up to them and that 's why they are still practicing polygamy despite the fact that it is illegal . They tend to believe that when one is persecuted just because he /she is a polygamist , they tend to refer it as a polygabuse . This is because their religion allows them to marry and the law should not interfere with their choice of marriage (Axel 1995

People still argue that the charges which are still given to polygamy should also be given to others like incest , gay marriage , underage marriage or even the welfare fraud . If polygamy is illegal to them , then all these charges should...
