ABSTRACT

The aim of this project is to analyze the values of the writer as far as counseling process is concerned . The writer contends that the humans are selfish , pleasure seeking individuals . They will do anything to attain the desired pleasure and avoid pain . Mental conditions are brought about by the fact that sometimes , it becomes very hard for the individual to avoid painful experiences . As such , he lacks mental pleasure , leading to mental illness . The writer also sees the process of counseling as having many goals . The counselor should be able

to select the best goals , in collaboration with the client , in accordance with the nature of the problem from which the client is suffering from . The goals should be time bound and achievable , as well as they been realistic . The writer also looks at the roles that he believes the client and the counselor should play . The successful performance of these roles by each party leads to the success of the counseling process
