Critique of a Scorecard for a MSHRM Instructor
Running Head : Review of the Scorecard Name University Course Tutor Date The scorecard set up to measure the performance of a science human resource management instructor in the present case is creditable , it has made notable improvements compared with the traditional teacher evaluation sheet . This scorecard has been able to narrow down various characteristics and behavioral traits that may be examined from the part of the instructor , as well considering the academic qualification as one of the factors which may contribute to good performance and the vice

versa . The traditional teachers evaluation sheet is too general and does not narrow down the measurable characters of evaluating performance , and thus it is very hard to arrive at the actual result about a certain teachers performance
The evaluation sheet used here is appropriate as it is easy to develop and a person studying it can easily understand the procedure of evaluating the performance of an instructor . However , this method of evaluating an instructor is not effective , it is so generalized such that , a manager may not be able to pick the best performer from the poor performer , using the only two available categories . The evaluation sheet set up has failed in providing an anchor scale which should be used by a manager to evaluate the performance standard of an instructor . The evaluation sheet is very shallow , in terms of categorizing behavioral s of performance which should be four in number the four behavioral s should be used by an evaluator to provide accurate information as to whether a certain in performance is poor , whether the performance is average , or can be said to be good or the best . The other problem that a manger may face in using the available evaluation sheet is that , the rater errors are more prevalent in this model , and it is also difficult to calibrate on the results due to the vague anchors which create room for a subjective interpretation of the results . With this kind of an evaluation sheet , a manager has room to make presumptions on the performance of a tutor that may not be effective
The best model of an evaluation scorecard which may help the university to realize the best results by having an effective and sufficient method of evaluating a teachers performance , is the Behaviorally Anchored Scale of Rating . This model of a evaluation has been developed by experts to help solve problems of vague anchors , which may give managers problems when it comes to stating what amounts to the best performance , or what can be said to be good , average or poor . The BARS method has a graph which describes four behavioral characters of performance at various stages , and uses the numerical letters to range them from 1-4
The bottom of the score box provides space where the numerical letters are written to show the which properly reflects the level at which the person rated is performing . This model uses behavioral incidents of performance in each and every stage , this...
