Critically evaluate the radical feminist argument that Christianity simply cannot be reconciled with feminist ideals
Name University Course Tutor Date Feminism refers to a belief and aim that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men . A person who supports this is referred to as a feminist . Christianity on the other hand refers to the religion that is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the belief that he was the Son of God . Those who follow this religion are referred to as Christians . Christians are often opposed to feminism because they buy into the idea that women are there to

serve men , they read the bible uncritically , it doesn 't occur to them that may be the Apostle Paul in the bible was wrong , they don 't know Christian history and that actually women have been a really important part of the church forever not just as supporting characters but as priests , theologians and mystics . On the other hand radical feminists are very anti religion . They talk of all religious people as being misogynistic , anti women which is true but so are many doctors , lawyers and socialists and journalists . The radicals don 't take into account that actually most women in the world have some sort of religious affiliation . They don 't (the radicals ) take into account that religion can be a liberating force , supporting and comforting feminists (Angela

From the Christian perspective , it is argued that feminist is a diabolical movement . They call it diabolical ' because the feminists try to redefine God by perverting the scriptures . According to Christians , God is not made of playdough , He cannot just be shaped into whatever type of god (dess ) one wants . They urge that all beings were created in God 's image and thus cannot be created in our own image Christians detest feminism . They urge that feminists have recreated their own false god that allows them to rule over men , and a woman to disobey her husband . This is wicked (according to Christians ) because it is viewed as twisting the bile and its satanic . They say that it is another one of the devil 's attempts to further the ecumenical movement which is the yoking together of Christians with heathen religions and organizations like feminism , which the end result always is a postacy The equality Christians believe in is different from that of the feminist equality . It is within the word of God , the bible . The type of equality promoted by radical feminist like Professor King , a professor in Theology and Religious studies at the university of Bistol , is according to Christians , a rebellion against God 's word . Biblical submission encourages the wife to obey her husband but the feminists insist on `liberation ' and `empowerment ' of women . Christians view all the beliefs and efforts of the feminists as a rebellion against God and contradictory and absurd .
