Feminism refers to a belief and aim that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men . A person who supports this is referred to as a feminist . Christianity on the other hand refers to the religion that is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the belief that he was the Son of God . Those who follow this religion are referred to as Christians . Christians are often opposed to feminism because they buy into the idea that women are there to

serve men , they read the bible uncritically , it doesn 't occur to them that may be the Apostle Paul in the bible was wrong , they don 't know Christian history and that actually women have been a really important part of the church forever not just as supporting characters but as priests , theologians and mystics . The type of equality promoted by radical feminist like Professor King , a professor in Theology and Religious studies at the university of Bistol , is according to Christians , a rebellion against God 's word . Biblical submission encourages the wife to obey her husband but the feminists insist on `liberation ' and `empowerment ' of women . Christians view all the beliefs and efforts of the feminists as a rebellion against God and contradictory and absurd .
