Should individuals with anorexia nervosa have the right to refuse life sustaining treatment What are at least two facts presented by each side of the critical issue

The first fact is that anorexia nervosa individuals are faced with a condition that is complex and that can lead to death . These individuals are therefore in great need of medical assistance and that they should not be denied . The other fact is that the diagnosis for the conditions

br may not be the actual representation of the situation on the ground but rather a representation of what goes in the patient 's mind therefore forceful treatment may not solve the existent problem . The other fact coming across is that everyone has a right to make their own informed individual decisions and that must be respected at all times in all circumstances

What are at least two opinions presented by each side of the critical issue

The pro-side is of the opinion that the individuals by themselves have a right to make their own informed decisions and that should be respected regardless of the situation , basically the individual 's autonomy should come first . The individual therefore must be left to make his choice without coercion or undue influence . They infact may be I in a competent shape of mind and may have their own valid reasons for refusing treatment
