Critical Literature Review
Introduction A functional assessment must be included in the IEP (Individulaized Education Plan ) of every school student who creates serious problem behaviors for their own learning or for their classmates or threatens to inflict physical harm , is guilty of substance abuse , wields weapons or requires disciplinary action (Murdock , 2005 . This is the rule by IDEA 1997 (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act . The assessment is usually followed by interventions to correct the problem behaviors Should the assessment be incomplete or faulty , the interventions may not be helpful and sometimes could be counter-productive

. FBA though recognized as a promising practice , it is still doubted as to how it could best be trained and used .
