In the case presented , Irene and Wayne experienced major difficulties in their effort to develop a working relationship . Wayne had observed Irene 's performance to be not meeting his expectations in running the department . On the other hand , despite her wanting to do a good job Irene was lacking in direction and felt that Wayne did not appreciate her and her abilities .
