However , times and approach to criminology have changed over the years and the modern criminology incorporate systematic scientific inquiry into crime (Siegel , 2003 . The word criminology was first used by Paul Topinard who was a French scientist . Topinard was studying types of criminals although Italian lawyer Rafele Garofalo is credited with having coined this term
