Combating criminal activities within the community has posed a great challenge to the law enforcement agents . Many means have been employed but little success realized . Community policing programs however seem to be the new found method that will help in minimizing crime rates within the society . The program was arrived at upon the realization that criminals live within the community and are therefore better understood by the community members who can positively identify them and provide

br vital information to the police for action . There is therefore need for the police to work in collaboration with the community in handling crime and related issues

Introduction

Community problem solving can be defined as the process which incorporates all the stakeholders ' in the definition of a given problem identification of resources and solutions to the problem , and being able to participate in the strategy development and evaluations . Owing to the fact that crime has become a perennial problem , the law enforcement agents have turned to the community for collaboration in an effort to bring the rising rates of crime
