The system of criminal justice is a label conferring culturally powerful institution that evolved over time in relation to the changing definition of crime . In addition people view definition of criminals and crime as the product of moral agents ' political interest , social interests and media dissemination . That is , a crime and who becomes criminal are phenomenons which are constructed socially , economically and politically . Race , class and gender represent several interlocking domination levels that originate from the configuration of the societies and their structural relationship .
