Over the last ten years , trends in the criminal justice field have not changed very much . According to articles from the journal of criminal justice and popular culture , their main emphasis is on the perpetuation of crime through media (films and TV . Apart from highlighting the influence of media on the community through high violent content (Semel 2008 , other issues discussed include drugs abuse among the youth and the broad issues relating to racism that

affect different people . The issues have not changed much but the intensity with which they happen have increased through media influence

The second journal (Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice ) is dwelling more on crime committed by the youth . The recent volumes are dwelling more on the increase of crime and the contributing factors as opposed to the older volumes that were highlighting delinquency among the youth and the influence of drugs among the youth Human rights abuse by the police force are also highlighted but in the earlier volumes . The trend according to this journal shows an increase in the crime (Steven , 2008 , which might be a culmination of crime by the youth in the last ten years
