Responsibility of the Stakeholders in the Criminal Justice System

The need for justice was felt even at the dawn of early human civilization . When people started to organize themselves into village and small communities , they had enacted law that will govern their security and interests . They had seen that effective law will maintain peace among its citizens . However , the people had seen also the need to punish and to

correct those who had committed crimes . A crime is not just an offence to the victim yet an offense to the state , so as criminal justice was born

However , in our modern times , there seem to be an ambiguity and sort of disorganizations in our criminal justice system . The main goal of the system which is to administer justice as soon as possible was not done As the system progress , many have seen that the system also had slowed down . Yet , modern technology , as the system reasoned , double checked the preliminary investigations and the statements of the victims or the witnesses putting as much as credibility to the administration of justice

However , people do not only need modernity in the system or high credibility . People also require overhauling of some laws to fit for modern crimes . This is a basis that the administration of justice is not just the responsibility of the police , the courts and the correctional officers , yet it is also the commitment of the executive and the legislative branches to ensure that laws and edicts are updated and fit for modern crimes . Moreover , the state should also foster the rights of the witnesses by providing meaningful witness protection program (Justice Center , 2006 . In addition , the state and the criminal justice system 's obligations do not only end in the reading of justice and the sound of the judge 's gavel but it continues until the end of the verdict . Moreover , one of the problems that are being complained by the offenders to the criminal justice system was the maltreatments that were done to them by jail officers and their overcrowding in prisons . Even though one may say that they are convicted , yet they are human who has reserve rights and the state should also foster their security . It should be known to jail officers that when an offender goes to prison he is both punished and corrected

However , prevention is still the best , so the criminal justice system should guarantee the citizens an immediate response to crime . It should also be instrumental in reducing crime in the community . It should also work in partnership with the society in the supervision of justice . It should administer an effective and fair verdict that will prevent lawbreakers from reoffending as the Secretary for the Home Department stated (2004 . The criminal justice system should make people feel confident that they are safe , and the state guarantees their security References
