The almost 100 percent internet penetration in the United States is increasing the demand for federally held information , especially that of historical interest . Federal criminal agencies , like the FBI and CIA happen to hold information that if of greater historical interest to the American people . The organizations are therefore under heavy pressure to provide the information they hold . As a result , each of them has independently developed online libraries that the public can search and access

the information they need . It is the methods of presentation and dissemination of historical information between the two criminal agencies that will be compared in this project

Bother agencies hold historical information that has been kept from Americans eyes until recently . It is therefore important to see how user friendly agencies portal are , and the speed it is taking these agencies to respond to queries or to requests of more data . The project hereby presented into three distinct sections : the first is about historical perspective of access to federal information , the second touches on the methodology used to compare both agencies ' presentations , and the third section discusses similarities and dissimilarities of the presentation and their impact to either agencies . There exists a conclusion on several major issues on the project and an appendix which clarifies on some points

But presenting data to the public in the current information age puts both agencies at par . This shall investigate the successes and failures that the two important agencies have been undertaking this task . However , federal government agencies were somehow slow in using their respective website to provide information to the public Instead , they continued using huge libraries that are found all over the country . For instance , citizens who wanted to know something about FBI and CIA 's declassified information could only go to specific depository libraries located in various universities or in libraries located in either agency 's offices . There was therefore no central place to get that information , which inconvenienced many Americans . As if not enough inconvenience , Americans were required to requests to access records and subsequently get an appointment with the libraries .
