Murder is the act of killing a person or an individual that is normally associated with malice aforethought . The act itself is universally prohibited and subject to penalties and punishments as evident in the canon law , the common law and codifications in several types of government like the monarchial and the democratic forms . murder and the associated aspects of social and psychological realities connected to it ? possibly ' infanticide . Local and national media aggravation has tampered the case as serial murder thereby instigating community unrest and reckless demands of answers from concerned citizens

The crime is examined using social conflict theory , a criminological approach that perceives the crime ' from the conflict and the norms and customs in the community is seen as a result of social , political and cultural imbalance , Soc 532 : Criminology

The murder was set in a community with multimeric ethnic groups but predominantly Caucasian and the first set of victims as part of the minority group , a situation that may point it to infanticide or child murder and the first suspect of the crime is the parent , more specifically the mother . The suspicion is well cemented from times immemorial , there have been millions of cases where children are murder victims of their mothers . Also , the case for both towns cannot be possibly be serial murder since there is the absence of stereotyping of victims hence we adopt the opposing theory , the consensus theory

Possible examination of intent are narrowed down to two first , the existence of socio-economic depression in the unit or family and second , set of predominant belief and culture for that particular group conveying population control , sexual-selection and / or religious rites However , the murder case may actually be an absence ' of intention but rather a consequence of neurological or psychological imbalance

The victims were subjected to mutilation and torture and the absence of sex-selection possibly suggesting that criminal act may stem from psycho-neurological imbalance labeling the crime as unintentional murder , a situation of diminished responsibility ' which may actually saved the murderer in court

The law enforcement should balance the grief of parents of children by pointing it down as part of the normative procedure in investigation They should not be emotionally entangled with the parents involved or at the most , commiserate with them since this may cloud their judgment Also , if the case be that the parent is a suspect , they should treat her or him as a suspect should be treated . However , continuous updates on the aggrieved party should be performed

Children are seen as most possible victims of the crimes since they are physically weak compared to the adults and they have little or no conception of struggle .
