CRASH

The movie CRASH pertains to the thirty six hours encounter of different people of different races . Within that thirty six hours , an interaction between strangers ended into chaos , hatred , fear , sympathy and understanding . The movie portrayed interactions of different races causing clashes between victim and aggressor , superior and inferior and an idealist and racist . Within that thirty six hours , lives of different people had interwoven through racial discrimination . Racism was portrayed as the common attitude of the characters played . Crash is indeed an eye opener to the unnoticed problem of

the society- racial discrimination

Communication process by George Herbert Mead is an essential part of social process . Communication process involves the conversation of gestures and language or conversation of significant gestures , as stated in the Internet Encyclopedia . In the movie , communication played and important factor . Communication is an important factor for people to understand each other . However , in the case of the movie , crash communication between the individuals created misunderstanding aggravated by racial differences . It can be seen at the first scene where two cars crashed . Ria , a Mexican detective who was driving her car collided with the car of an Asian woman . Instead of fixing the matters they argued on whose fault and specifically pointing out each others races . The Asian woman said Mexicans know no how to drive ' The Mexican said to the black police officer , Kindly put in your report our car was hit by an Asian driver ' It can be drawn that both of them have created and anger and pointing at each other according to their races . Another scene portraying misunderstanding through communication of significant symbol is when Farhad , together with his daughter , both Persian , is buying a gun from an American store owner . The American storeowner was irritated with the conversation of his customers , they seem to be debating on what type of gun to buy . The American said O sama plan a jihad on your own time . what do you want ? Farhad was furious and felt insulted about the term used by the American storeowner . Farhad , in turn , stressed that he speaks in English and he is an American citizen having the same right as that of the American storeowner . The interaction between a Persian and an American ended into quarrel and they disgusted each others ' race . It is also visible in the scene where Farhad engaged the service of a Mexican- American locksmith Daniel Ruiz . Daniel politely explained to Farhad that the problem is the door and Farhad should change the door . This statement of concern by Daniel was interpreted by Farhad as a way of cheating him . Farhad even addressed Daniel as a cheater
