The Windows Server 2003 and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 are two server operating systems that were released specifically in 2003 Windows 2003 was introduced on the 24th day of April 2003 as successor of the Windows 2000 version (Wikipedia , 2007 , par .1 . The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 server , on the other hand , was released on the 31st of March

With regards to the six-year study conducted by Ideas International Inc (IDEAS ) on 2005 regarding the procurement charges and the support costs of the two computer server versions , it was concluded that : first the enterprise license and support costs of Windows 2003 is competitive with that of Red Hat Linux 4 second , the two versions have different approaches to overall cost , which means that the best pricing comparisons should be based on a period of ownership (3-6 yrs , rather than on just initial acquisition charges (Ideas International , Inc 2005 ,
