Condom Dispensers on Campus Do Not Serve a Helpful Purpose
Condom Dispensers on Campus Do Not Serve to Protect the Student Body Condoms were created originally as a contraceptive tool that would help people avoid unwanted pregnancies . As time progressed , men and women became more sexually active and experimental . This led to the rise in sexually transmitted diseases that seemed to be avoidable or preventable when the male partner uses a condom during sex . This is why the condom is now a part of the sexual lifestyle of most people These days , sex is no longer limited to merely spouses and older

people . The youth of today have sexual relations as early as the age of 14 and the frequency by which they engage in sex with various partners increases as they get older . Sexual activity and experimentation peaks for some when they enter the college years because of the unbridled freedom that campus living , personal and public transportation , and reaching the age of majority affords them . This is why some college campuses have decided to install condom vending machines on campus County College is one of those whose school administration has decided that it is a good idea to install condom vending machines in the restrooms . This decision has caused a major uproar on campus . I support the party that is against the installation of the condom vending machines for three main reasons such as
First of all , a condom packet is easily contaminated . All a person would need to sabotage the item would be a needle . A hole the size of a pinprick will render the condom useless . There is no way to guarantee the security of the product being dispensed . Vandalism is quite common on any educational campus and the usual targets of the vandals are the vending machines . College kids would love to find a way to sabotage these items just for the thrill of it
Secondly , there is the question of product discrimination . There are so many condom types and brands out in the market today that it is impossible to choose just a few brands . It would not be good consumer relations . There is also the question of who will be subsidizing the cost of the condoms and the machine rentals . This would make the condoms available not very cost effective for the end buyer . If the subsidy will cost too much , the students could most likely end up with the inferior brands with questionable quality control
My third argument pertains to the fact that there is no need to make it easier and more convenient for the students to have sex whenever and wherever they want simply because condoms can easily be had and are quickly found on campus . What the college administration should instead be concentrating on is encouraging the students to think more about their sexual activities
Instead of installing the vending machines in the campus restrooms they should instead look for other areas that are safe distribution points with proper control methods in place such as giving the students coupons...
