Introduction

Nursing has come along way and have reached the milestones in its development . The discipline has been known for being an honorable profession . Over time , there are trends of change in the health care deliver system and it is for this reason that strategic plans among nursing institutions are constantly reviewed

A visitor to a hospital or other health care setting may possibly think that few have changed for nurses over the years . Most of the nurses still wears a traditional uniform , and is found in areas

taking care of the sick or giving advice to patients , their relatives and or friends . However , behind this seemingly unmodified exterior , much has altered . To be exact , nurses are now more educated through a diverse system of training . They are informed to a higher areas of health care (Aggleton Chalmers , 2000 . This is to upgrade ones competency for a better care for their clienteles

Caring is innate and essential characteristics among individual persons it is not exclusive to nursing practice although in nursing practice , it is the core , be it in the clinical , administrative educational , and /or research practice

Care is an essential fuel among nurses (Messner Lewis , 2000 , to recognize their needs and purposes , and without it nothing can build a successful interaction among them

According to the literatures , there are so many theories and concepts of caring and most of these are applied accordingly in nursing educational institutions , clinical areas and community settings . To name first is the Care , Core Cure postulated by Lydia Eloise Hall and was developed in the late 1960 's . It states that , individuals have three separate domains : care (hands on bodily care , core (using the self in relationship to the patient , and cure (applying medical knowledge . It is exclusively from professional nurses that patients should receive care . Nursing (Ahrens , 2008 ) involves interacting with clients in a complex mechanism of teaching and learning . Nursing works in all three of the circles (core , care , and cure ) but shares them to varying degrees with other disciplines . For example , the nurse 's function in the circle of care is the direct assistance to patients by the nurse whereby nursing procedures are carried upon . In the cure circle , it maybe limited to guiding patients and /or their families deal with the measures as ed by the physician
