Information system is an organisation of several components namely input , output and process which makes the entire organization itself . It is a process to organize itself to automate the business processes and create valuable model to departmentalize its operations . The input acts as the information which we feed in , in the form of business data . The day to day activities of the business are inputted into the information system either to store or for other purposes . The processing is a concept

to work on the business data and derive some value out of it . It can also result in providing relevant information for processing into a form which can be further innovated for a business purpose . The new value derived from it would generate further information which would be worked upon for processing another business function . The output is the processed form of input which is ultimately taken for derivation of results

An information system is important for businesses as it helps them to organize themselves in automated forms . Every business function demands the envelopment of information systems to automate themselves so that they are able to organize their activities , create a planned working environment and synchronize their activities with other departments to receive information and provide timely and accurate information to its counterparts . The transfer of information among various departments for processing a task and completing a job demands that the transfer is done in a timely manner so that no business opportunity is lost . Unless information is accurate and processed in the form required by another department for further processing , a delay is usually caused in getting a job done . The ultimate business requirement is sacrificed and work takes a lot of time to get completed . Putting up an information system would synchronize the operations of all departments and swift flow of information would take place which would eradicate propagation delay . It would result in faster processing of business activities and in enveloping greater challenges in the business for its growth and prosperity

It is quite challenging to manage information systems as they pose several problems in its overall management and consumption of resources The following are the various ways as to the reason of an information system being challenging to manage

The business processes which an information system handle requires a greater effort on the part of the business alone as the former is responsible for all the happenings in the business

All the business processes which are automated by the information system would require to be reviewed from time and again so as to check the validity of the process and whether it is complying with the business requirements

The associated software and hardware required for continuing the business process flow needs to be revisited so as to check the efficiency and the effectiveness of the system
